Bolts for GTS bushes

What size bolts are ment to be used with GTS polybushes? Are they M12 or 1/2inch?

An M12 bolts seems to lose a fit and a 1/2inch bolt doesn't fit (almost fits but quite). The crush tube would need reaming/drilling out to take a 1/2 inch bolt.

This was discussed a while back. IIRC they are meant to be 1/2" bolts. You arent the only person who has had trouble fitting 1/2" bolts through them though...

I will try and find the old thread

EDIT:
Here it is:

Though of course these assumptions could be wrong! The best person to ask of course is Darren

Its an age old debate.

The proper thing to do is to use 1/2" bolts, which as you point out are a tight fit.

But what appears to be the norm and there are aguments for and against it is to use 12mm. Basically the clamp load you impart when you tighten up the bolt stops the bush from moving and therefore you don't need a tight fitting bolt.

Not text book correct engineering but its what all the manufacturers do in kit cars and it seems to work fine.

Kind regards,

Darren
