Number Plates and Hello to Alez
Firstly (I have posted this in the correct area of the forum too but this is a little more active) -
Does anyone know a source for stick-on number plates (you know - the ones that so many kit cars have on the bonnet to prevent them hitting the ground
when mounted at the bottom of the car)?
Example can be seen here -
http://www.thekitcarworkshop.co.uk/pic3.htm
Any help much appreciated.
Secondly, hello to Alez. Sorry to hear about the problems you have been having recently with my/your car. How is the transmission now?
On the clutch it looks like you have the answers you need but the friction plates and springs in your car were replaced and the steels had all
blue-ing (which was light) removed with wet 'n dry about two months (and 200 miles) before you took her off my hands. So, depending on your
mileage, it might be about time you replaced them again.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Cheers Tom
I'm VERY happy with the car, transmission was repaired by a specialist so it's a runner again, I'll be looking to fix the clutch
next week (as I get slip only if I push hard and weather this weekend says I'll be taking her out all the time), thank you for the info on steel
plates
BTW you wouldn't believe how exclusive is this car here, I could have never imagined. I could tell millions of silly stories, funny stories and
all sorts of stories about how people react when they see the car. Last one I was in a 2 x 3 lane street in Madrid when I hear a loud speaker yelling
"eeeeeh woooo that's cooool", guess what, a guy driving an ambulance. Yesterday a woman offered her brand new C4 in exchange, said
to her OK but it didn't work
What about you? Where did you put the cash and how quick is it?
PS: it was about time you posted something!

Good to hear you are enjoying the car. Have you actually managed to approve/register the car for use in Spain or are you an outlaw?
I put the money towards two cars actually. I am going back to Uni to be a teacher so I need a commuter car that doesn't bore me to tears.
So, I now have a Peugeot 306 GTI6 and a Mk.1 (1986) Toyota MR2. I wasn't planning to get the Toyota but I saw a mint one in the Autotrader and
couldn't resist!
It may look like a wedge of cheese but the handling and turn-in are superb so I am growing to love it.
19 years old and everything works, electric everything and it feels nicer in every respect than my 7 year old Peugeot!
We live and learn....and what we mainly learn is...never buy a French car unless it is a diesel and you are happy for every non-essential item on the
car to break or malfunction!

Not anymore! The car is now registered, MOTed and insured here in Spain
> 19 years old and everything works, electric everything
Same as my Golf mk2, my one has electric nothing but claims no attention other than gas, water and oil, those are cars. I wouldn't mind getting
a MR2, I also like the Honda CRX, they are old but nice cars. That said, the MR2 is mid engined RWD while the CRX is neither, has the looks only..
Cheers,
Alex
