Measurement of Track

I've got a feeling this has been asked before but I can't find it.
If the Haynes manual says the front track is 1480mm, where is this measurement taken from, is it the distance between the inner wheel rims or what?

Cheers, thanx in advance for any info,

Mart

Manufacturers' track measurements are always from the middle of each tyre. so obviously the tyre width and wheel offset will have an effect.
