Fuelling problem?
My engine has developed an irritating problem, it has started hunting (probably idle control valve sticking?), but sometimes ticks over beautifully at
2200rpm, and sometimes correctly at 800rpm.
In addition, when you slam down the throttle it occasionally just stops dead for a second and then suddenly thows it all at you in one go! Great when
cornering.
Do I have separate faults, or one that I haven't diagnosed.
It is a 2.0i Pinto, It has run perfectly for 2500 miles until this weekend.
Any ideas?

The second problem is usually indicative of running too rich, as the engine gets flooded when you boot it, but then as more air gets sucked in the
extra fuel can be burnt.
However it is rather odd that either of those faults have only just surfaced...
Are you running carbs or the injection system?

Thanks for the quick reply david, I have moved the thread to the engine section (oops!)
It is injection, I would be surprised at a rich mixture, as at SVA it ran 0.15 CO and 58PPM HC's. But I know your reasoning is correct.
PS any more answers in the engine section, I dont want to get told off!!
