Ebay bargain or scam???
Hi, been after a close ratio gearbox and seen this
ebay item 4583322975
The way the ad reads its a one off, but he's sold at least 4 and seems to buy secondhand gearboxes
Any way of telling if its been rebuit, or do you think hes just giving them a lick of paint
Adrian

whats his feedback read like??..
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Looks just like his "new, selling for a mate" same colour paint job astra box. Found it in his feedback, some good reading. Maybe he just
recons them himself but then why lie?

Thats what worries me, a simple DOA would do
The ones he sold before have positive feedback, and feedback was given about 2 weeks after the sale, not really long enough to tell if its ok,
especially as he only accepts cheques

seem to remember that "selling for a mate" is a scam to try and get out of any legal problems if something goes wrong.
A number of people on ebay try it but what they don't realise is you are doing the deal with the person you hand the money over (i'm not a
lawyer so i could be wrong on that point)

It's interested how he says he's selling for a friend, then goes on to describe how he'll wait for the chreque to clear and how
he'll send it out.
I wouldn't mind buying a good 'box from a reputable trader, but I'd be careful of buying from someone who seems to bend the truth.

I did an advanced search with a 200 mile limit, it turned out to be 100 miles from Penzance, if others do a similar search we could triangulate!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
