I've got a full blown stacking system, amp, cd, radio, etc etc etc. Very large floor standing speakers, its not particularly difficult to set
up.
Whats the questions?

gear is very simple stuff post question s away.

Yeahs. Post the questions up matey. Amps are pretty hard to blow if your connecting using audio leads.

As far as i'm aware you can plug the red and white audio plugs into any of those. Jusrt cos it says CD on it, doesn't mean it has to be
CD. The only one i'm unsure about is phono. My Amp is full up now, has all those connections

i seem to remember someone telling me in the past to never plug anything other than a turntable into a phono or it'll go pop. thus i
wasn't sure how the rest of them work out.

Dont plug anything that has a line out into the phono, they are only for record decks. They have an extra amplifier to amplify the weak signal from
the deck.
But you can plug anything with an audio out into any of the other inputs quite safely.

Me likey real Hi Fi as well.
I'm fortunate enough to have a Sony ES3000 setup. All battleship class. That and some elderly Mission speakers which I really like :-)
Although live sound is more my type of thing.

Saw this thread a little late... but I'm into home hifi too. Rega Speakers, Denon amp, rotel cd NAD tuner Nakamichi tape deck (retired rotel
turntable, retired Mission Cyrus II Amp, blownup AR reference speakers)
So - yes...
I did the same thing connecting PC to system but sound quality is poor so dismantled it. MP3's (even at 256Kbps) is second best - don't
even go to ipod's wma as that is worse.

i think to get the 5.1 surround sound you need to have what ever it is your playing it on connected to the amp by an optic lead

Optical or coax connection if the amp has the decoder built in, but you can get DVD players that have decoders built into them, so you just need 5
amplifier channels.

I've run Lighting/Sound rigs for well over 40 events over the last 15 years. The biggest was at Danson Festival with 30,000 people ! I've
used audio rigs from 1KW to a full 15KW TurboSound rig . So if your into making it Really LOUD, you just have to ask

Pah...
Iron Maiden are in the Guiness Book of record for the most powerful PA used at any event. (Monsters of rock festival at Donnington).
523KW (thats 360 Turbosound cabinets )
Sound pressure was 128dB at the mixing tower! And only took 5 days to set up...

I'm into Naim Audio gear, good British HiFi, made in Salisbury. List is:- CD3.5, NAP150x Power Amp, NAC112x Pre Amp, Intro speakers, Flatcap2x
power supply (for CD player & preamp) and a Stageline for my NAD533 turnatable. All powered via a dedicated mains spur.
Also hooked up to a Yamaha 5.1 processor and Sony DVP-S725 DVD player (old but good).
Sounds good to me, not sure about the neighbours though

Connect it all up via optic and coax leads dude, and for your video leads use s-video. If you have to use phono leads, go gold, interference is the
biggest killer of quality!!
