new seals or new brake cylinders?
hmmm, posted this already but seemingly not got into the forum.
anyway a box arrived at work that I think contins my escrot rear brake assmeblies.
havne;t opened it yet but should I replace the brake cylinders or just the seals? Obviously I would check the cylinder bore and piston and that the
bleed screw undoes?
Seals will be cheaper and buying new cylinders means they are likely not to be as good quality as the Ford originals.... we'lll see.

IMOA i would change them !
they are one of the most inportant things on your car next to the tyres !
best to be safe
but its up to you, what do you think?
change the cylinders i ment not seals

You might find complete wheel cylinders are cheaper than the seals kit, this was the case for my serria units..

New cylinders every time.
Don't mess about with seals on these. Even if you can get them to seal properly when you do it - they won't last long.
I used to muck about trying to save money replacing seals on wheel cylinders only to end up buying new clinders a couple of months later.
Calipers can be done ok, and sometimes master cylinders but forget it with wheel cylinders

The cost of complete escort brake cyliders is relitively peanuts. My local motor factor didn't even bother selling seels for them.

Motor factors don't tend to stock seal kits it's normally cheaper to replace cylinder as well as being more reliable. Remember a leak will
contaminate shoes which is more expense /hassle
|

nor did mine; bit the bullet and bought new wheel cylinders and spring kit; total about £45 so gold plated peanuts then
Cleaned up the back plates, unseized and unbent one of the handbrake adjusters and painted everything so looking dead smart assembled!!! Quite
pleased.
Waiting for wheel studs to arrive so can bolt them on.

Try asking for a discount if you dont ask you won't get it . The worse that can happen is they say no .
