Rose jointed suspension (BEC) Quesition

Hello All,

Been putting together a list of bits I will need for my suspension (The car is a BEC Seven of my own design -Caterham Sized). I am having a hard time deciding on what size rod ends to use for the upper and lower pivots. Larger for longer rod end life or smaller to reduce damage to the chassis in the event of an accident.

Any comments or feedback on sizes others have used?

Car will be mostly track, very occasionally street.

Hi,
Check out this this thread. I asked similar questions a few years ago and ended up using National MSM8T (1/2" x 1/2" ) rod-ends on my 5-link de-dion axle.

I hope this helps,
Craig.

Westfield use 7/16" bore for the pivot with 1/2" neck into the wishbones.

....and as a blatant plug I happen to have a set of 4 brand new NMB bearings of this size (ARHT7ECR) still in their boxes which I bought last year as I was intending to use on my front suspension, but Ive now had a change of plan so am no longer going to use them.

They certainly aren't the low cost option but they will last unlike the £15 cheap rod ends which always seem to wear out in quick order unless you are doing very low mileage (ie hundreds per year or only sprint / hillclimb trackwork)

They cost me almost £50 each inc VAT and postage from Autosport Bearings

I'd sell all 4 for the price of 3 and take £150 inc postage if anyone's interested, and I'll even include the locking nuts which were a heady 23p each

Chris
