front shock angle / ride height
Front shocks ... what 's the ideal angle ?
I've read before on this forum that as near vertical as possible. Bearing in mind that the bottom wishbone (as book) moves in an arc is this
correct ?
Also what ride height recomended for as book 1300 X flow fun use on road only.
Just read some smarty pants comments that there is no reason to shorten the sump on a 1300 X flow cos the bell housing is just as low ...... DOH!
Should I go back to a standard sump ?
On the wheels soon, on the road ????

In order....
1. Ideally, the shockers do want to be mounted as vertically as possible. This is because the further the shockers lean towards the chassis, the more
they suffer from 'falling rate', where the mechanical advantage the spring has over the wheel/suspension lessens as the suspension is
compressed. But options are limited for a standard Locost build, so dont worry too much, unless you are going to design pushrod or rocker arm
linkages.....
2. Difficult to say. Depends on how much 'underhang' you have and how many speed humps there are in your area!!! Personally I'd
recommend starting around 5"
3. IMO shorten the sump! OK, so the gearbox bellhousing is the at the same/similar level to the sump, but gearboxes are stronger, easier to source,
and cheaper to replace than an engine....
HTH Stu.
Dont just build it.....make it!

Thanks for the help.
And I don't feel too bad about the sump now.
Cheers.
