Typical Handbrake cable pull!

Typical Handbrake pull
Evening gents

I’m playing with handbrakes at the moment and am wondering what the typical length of cable pull is to apply the rear brakes, I’m guessing that its 30-40mm but could someone please confirm this for me!?!

Cheers
Thom

Not sure about measurements, but always been taught to have hand brake hold on the third click. Dependent on rear suspension set up as Peugeot with trailing arm suspensions are set to six.

And my live axle one barely moves at all.

3 clicks for full lock at the back seems the norm though.

If you are using rear disc's with handbrake operating on the calipers (Sierra) it's a good idea to allow more movement. Also to fit an extra spring between the caliper cable bracket and the operating lever to help the lever to return .(useful on Golfs, Maxda and other cars with this set up) The old Metro clutch cable adjustor spring was ideal , could be cut to length and fitted over cable . Remember rear calipers siezed bad enough on tin top that are used everyday let alone our cars that may stand for days on end without being used.
