Sh#te shockers
Hi all,
It has come to my attention (cheers Jonno ) that the shocks i have fitted to my velocity are very poo and are only fit for the bin or to put the
spring back into my knackered sofa.
They are zeemride, and after a bit of research it seems they can come undone on the road and are as soft as shite to cap it all of. The only good
thing is i paid nothing for them!
So, firstly a bit of advice/guidance from you fine people would be great as i need to get a full set of shocks/springs, my budget is not high so any
recommendations and an idea of price would be a good start!
Also if anyone else is on the verge of buying some, maybe some deal making could be done!
Cheers,
Ross

I got a set from Darren at GTS, and as far as I'm concerned, they're good shocks and a good price (well, they were when I bought them ).

ive got bilstein shocks, i cant really vouch for them as theyre not on the car yet, but they are whats fitted to all caterhams. i picked mine up off
ebay for around £150 if that helps. i checked around beore buying them and theres not any bad words said about them- general concencus is there batter
than gaz etc. the only problem is that theyre not adjustable.

Are the set you purchased from a Caterham? - they will be valved to suit the application and if they're not adjustable you could be in for some
fun...

ummmm, i think they were from a caterham, maybe i should have looked into that a little more.... you can buy a kit to make them adjustable, so it
wouldnt be the end of the world. what are the implications without having them adjustable???
ps. sorry for the thread hijack

I'm not sure, but I think Robin Hood used to seel "zeemride" coilovers a few years ago, legend had it they were mini (the car)
shocks with "bits welded on"

I've got them on mine, they're alright for road use. It's a mini shock with a threaded sleeve over the body. Mine have never come
undone in 5 years on the road, they were the only locost option when I built my car.
Avo, Gaz and the rest are allegedly the same internally as each other, the newer Protech are a different design and supposed to be more efficient.
There doesn't seem much difference in price so you pays your money and takes your chance as the saying goes.

also if you're that way inclined the protechs are ally so slightly lighter. most of the steel sets i've seen at around the £250 mark and
the ally protechs around the £300 mark.
