Are all Sierra rear calipers the same?

I bought a Sierra diff complete with driveshafts and hubs but without the rear calipers which had been sold seperately.

I hope to build a dedion rear axle and will obvioulsy need to get some calipers but are these all the same? I saw some on e-bay last week described as 2WD Cosworth but didn't bid since I wasn't sure they would be OK.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think that some calipers were for vented discs (cosworth) and the rest are for unvented discs.

So no, not all the same (probably)

Always decisive eh Mark - I think I'm sure it's contagious, what do you think?

as mookaloid says cossies had vented discs so the caliper is wider

Ah, well - I like to be vague enough not to be sued

I was talking to a guy at work once who had a shagged for V6 essex in his Granada Auto. He was telling me he could get a V6 from a manual car for £100 and as I was onto my second reliant scimitar at the time he asked me whether I thought it would fit.

I said sure just unbolt the flywheel and bolt the torque converter on instead. (I had read an article about converting Auto Scimitars to manual in the owners club mag and they said it would work - I didn't mention this bit though)

Obviously he came back to me a couple of weeks later and said you know you said you could just swap the flywheel for the torque converter on that engine - well the bolt pattern is not the same

He further enquired as to whether I wanted to buy the engine off him for £100

I try to be a little more circumspect nowadays

The short simple answer is there are 2 kinds - one for soild discs and one for vented

vented rear disc types can be found mainly on cossie 4x4's and big engined granada's

solid on everything else (inc cossie 2wd)
