Steering rack nuts??

Are the nuts to lock the track rod ends (steering rack) an odd size?? Or some standard metric ones. I'm using an Escort rack.

Viper,
Do you happen to know if the threads on the ends of a Sierra rack are also M14 standard. I am meaning the ones on the end of the rack bar where they connect to the track rod inner balljoints. I ask because I intend to shorten a Sierra rack and need to know how to retap the rack once I cut it to length.

Cheers,
Craig.

Bloody 'ell mate that was a quick response...3 minutes flat!

No worries, I'll get a thread gauge and check it myself.

Thanks,
Craig.

Why not get a nut and try that? Cheaper than a thread gauge.

yours, Pete.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Pete,
A sensible idea and I'll probably do just that. However, I think a thread gauge is a worthwhile addition to the toolbox as well.
Cheers,
Craig.

According to my Borg&Beck catalogue all the ford track rod ends are M14x2.0. Except escort mkI, Capri and a few fwd models.
