atlas axle pinion removal?

Just been stripping my 4.1 atlas axle, and have removed the halfshafts, and crownwheel, can any one tell me how you remove the pinion ?, I have taken the propshaft splined plate off it, but it seems to be stuck?, before I resort to violence on it , and damaging it, - has anyone got any tips??
regards.
Greg

Undo the 27mm Nut in the centre of the input flange, Then belt it with the nylon hammer. I've just done mine and had to hold ity place with a piece of 12mm bar wedged between 2 of the bolts.
