Questions about Sierra adjustable column
I've seen this adjustable column on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-SIERRA-XR4x4-ADJUSTABLE-STEERING-COLUMN_W0QQitemZ260041234436QQihZ016QQcategoryZ21654QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem<
br />
Does anyone know:
1. will it extend longer than the standard one (I need my wheel closer to my chest)?
2. will the fixed column shroud and switches fit?
Thanks

Do they extend? Have I missed something on mine?
Steve.

Yep, give it a tug and you will find it extends all right

I am pretty sure at least some do extend for reach... the picture in the ebay ad has a slot which looks like the in-out adjustment visible just below
the lever

Mine does have pull adjustment though it seems intent on pulling the rubber/plastic bush apart at the moment! There is a triangular section in the
column that is sleeved with some kind of white nylon, I presume the extension movement should be hapening here?

I've stripped all of the adjustment mechanism away from my column, leaving me with the minnimal bits left - I can still adjust it using the
bolts, but it can't be easily adjusted on the move.
As I'm the only person driving it anyway, it just means I can get the perfect position for myself.
PS - It also adjusts for reach and height (or, at least it did!)

Up, down, in, out.
Mine goes about 2" in both directions. It doesn't sound much but it keeps us amused

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Problem solved (and at zero cost)! On my other thread (on steering wheel spacer) someone suggested undoing tne column clamp and moving the column.
D'oh! I moved the column 3cm back, so that should be a lot better.
Thanks for the suggestions anyway

That was me..
That's how I did it on my car, you could get a steering wheel with more dish to it if you need a bit more.
