Squint Hub
I have a problem I think. I've mounted my front bones as per a drawing in James's file (cheers) and this I think is same as the book
(I'd have to get off my arse to check but I'm sure it is!). I have GTS bones though, which I think may contribute to this. I've put
me hub on (Sierra) and a disk because I was excited and its easier to see whats going on because it exagerrates it. My problem is that the top of my
hub leans out from the car too much (negative camber?) even with the camber adjuster fully screwed up and no space for the locknut. I was wondering if
its because the GTS upper bone is 10mm longer than the book and thus I should've mounted it lower? The bone as it is runs slightly upwards
which I know is fine from looking at pictures but whats going on here can anyone help?

Hmm. A little confused here. I have GTS Locost top and bottom wishbones and Sierra hubs which I know work fine from seeing Gavs car. Not sure where
Cortina uprights come into it though. Forgive my ignorance if I'm missing summat. I'll go and try and get a photo.

You can see from the rough verticals how much its squint and this has the adjuster screwed right up

As simply as possible:
Cortina uprights require shorter bottom wishbones than Sierra uprights (GTS make both).
The symptom your setup is showing (excessive positive camber) is what one would expect if the shorter Cortina type wishbones have been fitted to a
Sierra upright.

No way! I bought them through Rally Design and they're just advertised as Locost wishbones. No mention of Cortina or Sierra. Immensly pi55ed off
now. Wishbones weren't cheap to buy and neither are Cortina hubs so now I'm stuck in the brown stuff. Think I have a case to
send them back?
Can anyone provide the lengths of the wishbones for the Sierra hubs just so's I can check?

To be fair the "Locost" book design uses Cortina uprights, so selling them as Locost wishbones doesn't seem underhand in any way.
If they are still in good condition you might be able to send them back, though obviously I can't speak for RD.
Alternatively you could try selling/exchanging them on here.

Gotta agree with Mike here. The Locost is designed around Cortina uprights.
I regret not putting Cortina's on mine rather than Sierra purely for the weight saving.
Widetrack with Cortina uprights seems the best compromise to me and is probably what I'll change to at some point.
If I was you MisterGrumpy I'd just get some Cortina uprights! A few months after you've finished the car and you want a power uplift
you'll be glad you saved the weight!

Cheers Mark. Mine are no where near that.
The problem with Cortina uprights is that they ain't cheap and I'm absolutely skint (in the -ve numbers to be fair. Had no pay cheque
since July!) ,they don't come around too often and I've already got Sierra front calipers and discs. I assume I'd have to buy
Cortina calipers and discs if I swapped. Bah!

I would suggest that your cheapest route would be to get another set of bottom wishbones, suitable for the Sierra uprights. You may be able to swap
them with the original suplier, if they do the Sierra type. Alternatively make up a set yourself, you have all the dimentions, just need to be 30mm

If you use wider bottom wishbones you will need some track rod extensions with the Escort rack if you are using it.

Yep I have these already sorted too. Another reason as to why I'm gonna stick with the Sierra thing for now. I'm just too skint to fork
out for stuff again when I can just stick with what I've got for the now and think about it later. I'd just like to push on with things,
I'm so impatient but the money thing keeps holding me back. Bah
|

Unlucky mate, i did say tripple check everything before you buy, i would of saved myself a fortune if i had!
The reason why you couldnt post the pic is that the server wont allow you to post dynamic images, ie the ones that come via php script,
its got to be an absolute URL to the image.

I suppose it's just one of them things in a very expensive hobby. They just seem to happen when you're skint, almost at a milestone or
when there was a replacement on Ebay that was really cheap but ended last night and they don't come round that often. But, all part of the
learning I suppose and it wouldn't be interesting if it all went right first time.
