Book trailing arm bush and or arm replacement
An old one i know, but i am getting nowhere with it....
Car is on the road, rear suspension as per book. i.e. i am using floppy bits of rubber as bushes for my rear trailing arms, which are useless. BUt you
all knew that already!
I am looking to replace these bushes but everywhere i try uses poly tophat bushes which wold be too wide to fit within my brackets (~42mm IIRC).
Either that or they use a 12mm bolt as opposed to the book 3/8". Drilling out the brackets would obviously not be a problem but my shocks use
the same bolt as the top trailing arm and use sleeves to fit the 1/2" mounting hole.
Does anyone know anywhere that makes bushes identical in size to the herald metalastics but with a higher shore value?
Or anywhere that makes trailing arms as per book, with stiffer bushes, that will fit my existing suspension brackets?
I would make them up myself but I had to move my workshop a while back and my new place has no power! Except the 300W from my inverter which is barely
enough to drill a hole in wood!
Thanks
Rich

who makes your shocks?
AVO do different bush sizes, i've got ones from a mini on mine so i can use 3/8 bolt. 10mm shouldn't be an issue.

Hi just get them from westfield which is where shall we say ron got the idea.
The older type from westfield were a bit to hard but the ones they are using these days are quite acceptable for a road car.
The price is a bit dear at £4.50 per bush so try some of the triumph specialists. RIMMER
BROTHERS Are just one of many.
cheers matt
Sorry just reread and your brkts are 42mm internally wide so the westfield ones wont fit whithout using a spacer either side. PLus westfield use 7/16
bolts so no use even with spacers but still try the triumph specialists.
PS you are looking for about 80 shore bushes for the rear trailing arms.

I got my bushes from a firm called Deflex, and they do triumph relacement bushes, in two hardness's IIRC. Worth giving them a try. As far as I
recall they were quite reasonabley priced. HTH Ray

You talking about the Quinten Hazell bushes, part no. Y419??
Less than £1 each and available from the Triumph specialists.
Are the Westfield bushes a direct replacement for the Y419's?
Cheers,
Syd.
Try these guys, I buy the genuine and best (really!) from them. Not the cheapest, just the best. And Aussie made to boot! They also are Triumph
specialists.

Hi syd disregard the reference to the westfield bushes as they are only 1 1/2" lenght and use a 7/16 bolt although are same as one of the
triumph bushes .

That's OK Matt.
I'm using the Superpro Triumph replacements in the back. Leaving out the metal bushes and machining Delrin replacements to bush them down to
6mm. Got save as much weight as I can!!
Cheers,
Syd.
