Master Cylinder Spacer

Anyone know if there is available from anywhere a spacer that I can fit behind the girling brake/clutch cylinders to space the cylinder away from the bulkhead. I want to be able to adjust the pedal position but the cylinder has rolled threads so I cant run a die down the shaft and cut it off.

Don't want to have to make one if there is someone who sells them....

I thought that they were just a UNF thread - and even if it is rolled why can't you just run a die over it?

I'm with Razman, just extend the thread down the shaft with a die and shorten as required.

A rolled thread is rolled on a bar with a smaller OD than a thread, hence it can't be extended by cutting with a die.

It is easy make a push rod up from a bolt or set screw, the hex head can be ground down by putting the bolt in the chuck of an electric drill and grinding it down against the wheel of a bench grinder.

The difficult bit is getting it the right shape to allow the piiston in the master cylinder fully back.

so is this about making yer own push rod? I did this on a sierra master.

the original one is about 7 mm, I used a 8 mm bolt, chopped of the head and bough the 8 mm clevis from RD. Withj the use of another nut to lock the clevis in place, the length of the push rod can be adjusted. The push rod end that goes into the piston was rounded.

now the important bit.
since the pedal action causes the rod to move up and down a bit, you need to check that the rod will not foul in the piston. The recess in the piston is larger in diameter than the pushrod to allow for movement (I think 10 mm would have gone in but then there is not enough play)
