Sierra Rear Calipers - Handbrake Question - Help Please !!
I'm fitting and setting up the handbrake on my Viento, and think I'm missing something with setting up the handbrake. One caliper bites
quickly, on the other the lever moves almost to full travel without clamping on the disk at all. I know that there's an auto adjuster in there,
does the caliper have to be full of fluid for the mechanism to work correctly ? I've not put the fluid in yet. Pads are all present and correct.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Simon

Yes the the self-adjuster works by hydrualic pressure.
Major warning
Don't over adjust the handbrake cable or the self-adjusters won't work.
Leave the cables very slack until the system is bled and the pedal is solid after that the pedal pumped a few times good and hard then adjust the
cables by the book. If you don't have enough free movenent in the cable the little levers at the caliper end won't come back far enough
to let the self-adjuster work.

Yup. As above, you need to have the normal brakes working and pumped up fully before doing the handbrake....

Many thanks
Thanks all, that's great.
Will stop fiddling with the handbrake until the hydraulics are all sorted.
Cheers
