Roll pins
Help!
I'm busy designing and building a gearchange extension for my Ford Type 9 gearbox.
All is going pretty well, but I've come up against a problem - I need a 5mm dia x 20mm long roll pin. This is the one that holds the gear selection
thingie onto the selection shaft.
I have the original, but need another. Can I find one in Ipswich? Can I b*ggery! The car spares places are no help, and the scrappies get offensive
if you ask them to strip a Sierra down for a single scrap of spring steel (few scrappies allow you to do the work yourself round here).
So, anyone know of a decent postal outfit that'll supply these (I don't mind buying 5 or 10), or does anyone have a spare they don't want?
cheers,
David

Have you tried agricultural and horticultural places?
I used to work in a place that was both.
You'll find that roll pins are used a lot more in those to areas than automotive.
Hope that's a help.

When I used to live in the UK we used RS components a lot, even for mechanical stuff like this.
Try, http://www.rswww.com
part number 374-058 IIRC
They aren't the cheapest, but you got the stuff next day almost without fail.

This thing's known as a roll pin, spring pin, plus many other titles.
It's a cylinder of spring steel with a slit down one side. 5mm dia, 20mm long.
If this matches what you're talking about, I'll send you an e-mail!

Sounds like a bargain! I'll e-mail the address ASAP.
Which day you going to Newark? I'll be there on the "Locost Owners' Club AGM" day (Sunday?).
cheers,
David
