Sierra Lobro Drive Shafts
Hiya everyone!
Can anyone help me with the alignment of the Lobro Drive Shafts.
When we removed them - it was apparent that they had been fitted with new boots... BUT I assume when they went back together they were put back
together differently.
With the Splines flat upto Drive Shaft Flange - 1 is about 5deg out the other is different. As they are radial bearing grooves (x6) is it as important
as the Tripode Type alignment?
PLEASE HELP!!!

i would imagine they have to be right on such a component, orterwise you are just going to build in premature wear....

If you are refering to the alignment of the bolt holes of the lobros at either end of the shaft, then no, it doesnt matter. They are CV joints, i.e.
constant velocity, so ensuring that they are lined up isnt necessary, as it would be with say a propshaft.
If thats not what you meant then ignore me......

Got you pic eddie - cranked my neck reading it!!
Can't say I've noticed the grooves - will look tomorrow.
I understand the theory behind CV (by definition). However, even on a Prop Shaft they are CV joints at either side are there not?
Thanks for the advice lads...

Great Information. However...
It still hasn't answered my question on whether or not the alignment is offset or inline...
As the shafts were different alignments upon removal I have no-way of checking whether it will affect performance/longevity after re-assembling.
Anyone else...

No mate. Not usually anyway. Most props have UJ's (universal joint). Whilst both types of joint are capable of transmitting power through an
articulation of the driveshaft, a UJ varys the speed at the other side of the joint slightly when transmitting drive through an angle. Hence the
reason that it is VERY important to ensure that the joints of a propshaft are aligned correctly when rebuilding. As a CV joint does not vary speed,
then alignment with the other joint is not relevant.
