I got a set of calipers only, so didn't know the age of the car, but from searching through the Ford TIS (technical information service) the part number (85GB 2M004 AB) for the repair kit doesn't change for all models fitted with rear discs, so the year may not be too relevant.

Are you after the caliper overhaul (seal) kit? Ford don't seem to sell just the seals for the rear calipers, they make you buy the piston too (+/-£60 a side!!). If you're after the seals then talk to either Mike Collins, or Darrel at Brakes International, as they supply just the seal kits (see below for email sent to me) I said the vehicle was an '87 and the seals fit perfectly - I may have jut got lucky though!:

"Yes we do the seal kits which contain all the seals within the caliper and no piston and yes we do mail order. The seal kits are £8.94 per side plus vat. Delivery by ups next day £6.00 plus vat
If you would like any more information please ring me on 01254 695695
Thanks
Mike Collins."

email: brakes3@zen.co.uk

They should still have some in stock and the bits came the next day. Very helpful. They also had a deal on rear pads £6.95 a set!! Web Offer. www.brakesint.co.uk

Hope this helps

did that come with the lttle boots for the slider thing that holds on the outside pad?
just tried polar again and their system says it is no longer available.
ill email that collin guy and see if they are available seperate, cos my piston seals are all sparkly and new already.

Russ,

The rear caliper kits from Brakes International came with the following:

Cylinder seal
Interior piston seal
Cylinder seal (handbrake mechanism)
Piston dust boot
2x Slider boots
Slider grease
and rubber bleed nipple cover.

If you are just after the boots then the Ford part number for a boot kit is 83BB 2L526 AA. However this, as you found out, may be the part that's no longer available.

Good luck

Thanks,

Russ.

all the 2.8 xr4i had drums, big drums that actually worked better than the shoddy disks.
however the rear caliper was the same part on all the non vented rear braked fords regardles of disk size(they had different hangars)also the same caliper also showed up on rear disk braked golfs.

You mean the caliper brand and type is the same in those Ford's and Golf's?
Do you know which ref#?

Cheers
