scuttle

Hi all
can anybody fill in the missing pieces in "the book" for scuttle making. It does not make much sense, ive made the bottom rail , front loop and rear plate but then it says cut a piece of 1" box to fit and weld in place.( where to and where at???)
Or is there a special edition of the book for thick cumbrians,
any ideas welcome
regards phil.....

I think you are reffering to the bit that forms the bottom rail of the dash mounting and supports the steering column in the book design.
I used a bit of 25mm round tube and supported the column from the lower rail.I would not make a steel scuttle if i was to make another one,i would use ally sheet and rivet and glue it together, the steel book design is very heavy.
