Widest tyres on escort rims
Does anyone know the widest tyre size that will fit the std Mk1 steel wheels.

ideally the rim width should be 85% of the tread width and not less than 75%
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

MK1 on 12" Rims ?
165/60x12" --- even that might be a bit too wide, tyres which are on the wide end of the fittment range for a rim tend to muck up the
handling the original 155x12" is a better bet.

RS MK1 models were 5.5Jx13 all the rest were on 12" rims as they cam from the factory although a few 1300GT may have had 5Jx13".

I think you would have real difficulty getting any choice in 12"
