Un modified shafts on a book shassis

HI,

I have a Triton Built book chassis with IRS back end which had the shafts and diff already mounted.

The shafts do not look to have been modified, so in this i assume that the back end is of MK proportions? and that the book chassis with the live axle is narrower than the one i have.

Does anyone have lengths for un modified sierra tripode type shafts?

You would think with over 400 posts i would have ascertained that info already........sometimes the most fundimental and basic information just slips us by!

This might seem a silly question but....
Have you tried asking Triton? They have moved from the original location, but i believe are still in business.
Are both shafts the same length?

Mike,

Cant find any contact info for them, are they still going?

The shafts are not the same length as it uses the standard Diff with the flange mounted centrally thus requiring different length shafts.

I'm sure someone else uses two of the same shaft - ie two short shafts....

Triton moved a few years ago, Try contacting Dick Axtel or Dave Ashurst on here, both had some dealings with them a little while ago

If you use two same shafts one of your big driveshaft nuts will be the wrong thread and will be in danger of loosening itself. You will have to drill and lock it to the shaft. It happened to someone on the bec forum a while back.

yours, Pete.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
