What do i need to hook up to my fuel tank?
I'm building an Indy and was wondering what I need to attach to my fuel tank in the way of sender unit, level gauge, fuel pump, piping etc? What
do i need and where do they go?

i've got a plastic tank that came with the kit but i didnt take anything out of my sierra tank, should i have done?
otherwise, can i buy new units?
any help would be appreciated

well, im no expert but as i see it, you need a pipe to take fuel and maybe a pipe to return fuel. depending on your engine choice, it may have a
mechanical pump or an electric pump, and some sort of filtered vent to let air in. Some people do without a fuel gauge, but to have one you will need
a float with the variable resistor, and a pod for the dash. They must both be singing from the same hyme sheet too if they are to give a useful
reading.
For mine (not put together yet) i have kept the unit that pops out of the top of a sierra tank, everything you need all thru a circle of metal about
3" in diameter. i dont have a tank yet but i hope it can be used with this lot when i get it.
any MK owners know any detail about the tank supplied by MK?

ah ok, looks like im gonna need me one of those 3" circle thingys then! is the fuel pump part of the engine/carb or is that another separate
unit i need to get hold of?

generally, injection will be a remote electric fuel pump, and most (not all) carb engines will use a mechanical fuel pump built into the engine.
on my pinto the pipe just goes from the tank to a tube on the side of the engine, this is the pump. really depends on your engine?

ok so the fuel pump is built into the engine and i dont need to fit a new one?
do i just need to fit a sender unit then?

if you look at the bottom of your engine, below the distributor, there should be a device sticking out the side with two pipes on it. bottom one is
feed, top goes to a 'pressure regulator and vapour seperator'. this has a return to the tank, and a pipe to the carb.
thats how mine is, may be different on a 2L, also depends on year of car.
provided you have a mechanical pump, then you're off to a good start. Does your tank have a hole in it for the sender? I've never seen an
MK tank so i dont really have a clue. Basically the pipes need to sit in the fuel, beyond that i know nothing.
One of the MK builders can hopefully elabourate....

Fuel pump
Pressure regulator and vapour seperator
as i understand it, the line from the tank goes to the bottom of the pump
the top goes the the leftmost pipe on the regulator
and the right hand barb on the regulator is the return to tank
