random brakes questions

1) Are flexis always male to male?

2) Are M10 male unions a standard length to fit properly into the female part? What if I want to fix the joint through a tab in my chassis - presumably I need longer male bits? (Phnar phnar)

3) Pipe flaring - presumably if the part I'm going to plug into is concave at the bottom, then I need to do a double flare to match:
<> shaped
and if it's convex I need to use a single flare:
\ / shaped ...?

4) Sierra rear calipers: I've got the Cossie ones at the mo, but at some point I'll swap to the smaller standard ones so that I can squeeze on 13" wheels. Can someone confirm that, apart from being bigger, the Cossie calipers/hub carriers/brake unions all fit in roughly the same place?

Thanks!

1) No

2) Males are a set length to screw into calipers/cylinders etc, a longer connector, referred to as a bulkhead connector is used when securing thro' a bracket or bodywork with a nut on the other side

3) The shapes you are describing to fit into convex/concave are basically correct but a single flare (one operation of the flaring tool) creates the <> shape (where the top is the end of the pipe) & a double flare (2 operations of the flaring tool) creates a concave flare to fit onto a convex end.

4) Believe you are correct but not 100% on this one

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1
