Rear Diff Temperature
My rear Diff ( 7inch 3.62LSD) is getting very hot even after a short run. Almost too hot to touch.
Is this normal or should I replace it with my spare 7.5 inch open diff, before the long run to Stafford.

How efficient is a diff? 97%?
How much power do you put through the diff on average? 50 BHP?
so about 2000W is lost in the diff as heat and sound. About the same as an electric fire or domestic iron. I don't know how hot it should get
but I would expect it to be quite warm.

It could also be you are getting a lot of hot air from the engine bay travelling down the tunnel and hitting the diff

As above I found a lot of heat came from the engine bay down the tunnel which didn't help. Large side vents on the engine bay helped with both
the tunnel sides and diff temp. Still gets very warm though and yes almost too hot to touch after a hard drive.
