i know nothing about jag hubs myself. the issues you need to consider are these:

- can they be adapted to take a top wishbone?

- are they too heavy?

- is there a cheaper alternative?

- what wheels are available?

- and how cheap are spares and parts, ie pads, bearings and stuff.

Me myself, i would use sierra or cortina hubs, mainly because these two are tried and tested, and if you get stuck then loads of people on here can help. Plus they are 10 a penny. Accepted you may already have jag hubs if you have a donor.

I have often found i had something i could maybe use, and been tempted to use it. This includes standard rear springs, unmodified sierra hubs (using a chopped strut), sierra radiator, polo headlights. In most cases i have chosen to use the 'proper' part, cos if its commonly accepted as best there is usually a reason. The only part off that list i am still considering is the polo headlights, cos they are nice and round and free, but as soon as i get in touch with premier wiring i will probably just buy some for £25 a pair.

Think about how easy it is to find sierra bits too.

anyway, Good luck etc...!

The jag running gear would be rather heavy and i would think your choice of wheels will be liited. Why not sell it to someone building a cobra or hotrod and then buy a escort or capri axle and sierrra uprights Alternatively use a sierra diff and make a dedion axle.

the jag axle - if its like the xjs and the xj6 of 10 or so years ago, would be a bit whacky to use.

1. its heavy

2. it has no facility for a top wishbone - the driveshaft is the top wishbone! If you cut the shaft and weld it or whatever, a weakness makes the wheel fall off as well as loss of drive.

3. its probably really wide.....jag isnt exactly the smallest car on the market.

If you want a fast painless build, follow the book as much as you can.

If you want to take several years, and be involved in lots of problem solving excercises, then use the jag stuff.

unless of course you are buying a kit that readily accepts the parts.

but why use a 300+ hp rated heavy irs from a jag if you dont need to cope with that power?
