anyone know what book is best to help me with the engine it is a 1.8i vvc 1996 .
as there is a spark plug that was put in x freded but not buy me. so i need to take the cylinder head and remove it. please help...

Have you tried a haynes manual?

you could heli-coil the thread rather than take the head off
diy its quite easy or your local machine shop will do it

Is the thread stripped or just crossed ? if just crossed just run a chaser down it 90% of the time that will save the day -- with a 3/4" reach plug you generally have more than enough thread left to hold the plug in.

If that won't work --

Personally I would try a helicoil or other insert insitu and grease the tap well and use compressed air to clear out the swarf,

However if you want to lift the head get yourself a copy of Rover RAVE CD manual (usually loads on ebay) and study it BEFORE stripping anything --- these engines don't take to being torn down unless first the timing marks have to be lined and the bolts undone in the correct order.
