Price for cosworth stuff.
I have been offered, several parts from a k reg cosworth with 80000 miles on it. I was wondering if someone could tell me if I was getting a good
price or not.
The parts are.
Front uprights, disks, calipars, steering rack.
rear, lsd diff, prop shaft, half shafts, rear uprights, disks, calipars, hubs, and the gear box which I think is a T50, borg warner.
The price I was offered for this lot was £380 without the gearbox, and another £200 for the gearbox.
good price?

It all depends on what you're planning on doing. I don't think I'd bother with much cosworth stuff - it's usually much more
expensive than standard Sierra stuff, and unnecesary on a small, light car, much of it is heavier too (diff particularly comes to mind). T50s can be
useful, they're heavy, but very strong, IIRC viper is using one. Engines are good of course, but that's not on your list!

If it's K-reg then that'll be a 4wd, and the use the MT75 gearbox with a transfer box bolted on the back, unless I'm very mistaken.
As for price, I don't know what's good for the lot but i've been told £300 just for a cossie LSD and that was a brother of a friend.

If you're using a big engine I guess the gearbox may be worth having but I'd have thought the rest was pretty pointless in such a light
car- especially when you can get a normal Sierra for ~£50.
The steering rack you'll have to cut up anyway if you intend using it and I doubt you'll need the propshaft either.
When it comes to the callipers- are they any better than standard Sierra ones? Anybody know?
All in all I'd have thought that yes- it's a good price if you need the stuff but you don't need it!
All IMHO!

As mentioned before if its K reg it will be a 4x4 cosworth which will have a 7" LSD diff
3.62:1 ratio. The front brake calipers are single piston sliding type which are not wonderful. The 2WD cosworth had 4 pot front calipers which are
pretty good. The only advantage of cosworth brakes are their diameter but it is overkill when M16 calipers do the job perfectly well.

The 2 wheel drive cossie box is a T5 and it is not at all heavy in fact its lighter than type 9 and lighter than most older 4 speeds, it's an
all alloy casing.

4x4 cossie lsd is 3.62:1 and this is the same as the XR4x4 2.9 item - even the part numbers are the same on ford's microcat system
why pay cosworth money for the XR kit?
