Except, oddly enough, the 5 door Civic which shared it's design with the Rover 400 had 114x4 PCD

No
Don't confuse the normal pre 2000 Honda Civic & Concerto with the post 200 Civics or the Honda Accord
Accord = Rover 600 and used visibly much bigger PCD 114mm as also used on the 800 series.
All Rover 200/25/400/45 are 100mm pcd 4 stud
Rover
Model Year PCD Offset Bore
200 / 400 90 to 99 4x100 35 to 42 56.1
25 / 45 99 on 4x100 35 to 42 56.1
600 93 to 99 4x114 35 to 42 64.1
75 99 on 5x100 42 to 50 56.1
800 86 to 96 4x114 38 to 45 64.1
Steetwise 03 on 4x100 38 to 45 56.

Err, yes! Perhaps I didn't write that very clearly, the Civic had 4x114 PCD, the Rover 400 (which was identical in many respects) used a 4x100
PCD.
I know this is correct because I owned a 5 door Civic VTi.

Prior to the 2000 model year the Civic/Ballade/Concerto was a 100mm pcd 4 stud
Honda PCD in changed in the year 2000 after the break with Rover -- although Rover continued to use made Honda suspension parts (they even have Honda
part number labels) post 2000 on the 400/45 they were to the earlier specification.
