I bought an impact grade (but only 1/2" IIRC) 42mm (is it 41 or 42mm?) socket for about £9 from local motor factors.

I went way over the top and bought a huge 35 piece 3/4" socket set.
Only used it twice but it was worth every penny just to look at it

Agreed - 41mm. I have one in the car, along with a 2ft breaker bar and 4ft of scaffold pole with which i undid a pair of hub nuts. They were
f'ing tight so might be worth getting some penetrating fluid on there if you havent already.

I bought one on eBay for £11 a few weeks ago. It's 41mm and is definitely the right size.
