MK Exhaust mounting

Went to fit the exhaust system to my MK Indy at the weekend, ten minute job at the end of the session. Fitted it and then when I came to fit the exhaust rubber bobbin I found where the hole needed to
be drilled in the car's side panel came out where the chassis has cross braces. Is the only answer to make up and pop rivet a bracket for the bobbin to locate into?

This any help?

I made a steel strip and bolted it through the floor using penny washers to spread the load and mounted the bobin vertically on the end. I then made a small right angle bracket from steel strip to fit between the top of the bobin and the exhaust bracket.

At the time some people were finding that the bracket on the MK supplied exhaust was breaking fairly quickly. As you can see I welded in some extra bracing to strengthen the bracket. All is well after nearly 3k miles.
