Steering/Trackrod Q

I brought a reconed pug manual steering rack without track rod ends off the bay which came yesterday.
Now the threads on the end of the pug rack are on the inside of the track rods wheras the threads on the jaguar track rods are on the outside.
I know you are not allowed to weld them so would it be ok to cut the threads off the jag rack and screw them (if they fit) onto the pug ones?
Im sure this will only make sense to me

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Most use extension pieces on shortened racks anyway so dont' see how that is any different to having a female/female connection piece?

But......what's wrong with the pug ones?

I have no problem with that - no different to regular extensions - check first that the threads are compatible:diameter/pitch/handedness.

You will need a half nut if one of the parts does have thread exposed.

Arm your steering arms ahead of the wheel centres or behind ?
