wing mirrors on full cage indy
eddbaz - 27/10/08 at 10:09 AM

I need to buy some sva compliant wing mirrors that will screw into my side bars of my full roll cage of my indy, anyone know where to buy them ?

Might be better to leave the cage tubes in tact and fit to the scuttle.

have you got any pictures of the cage?

i generally agree with what nick says, but the same could be said about drilling holes to rivet the side panels all down the side of the car. it very much depends on the cage i think. my chassis has rivnuts in the side of the cage for mirrors, but then they're not the main tubes, but short supporting triangulation tubes

how about you stop working on that old car of yours and take it to the scrap yard, i will beat you to SVA old man

Looks to be a standard MK full cage setup - so a decent length set of bike mirrors (CBR etc) should be fine on the side of the scuttle. I think MK sell a set - maybe R1 style IIRC.

BTW - looks like a top quailty build you have in progress. Nice to see a non Black chasis too

you should see it now

Mine has the MK cage and tbh, I wouldn't want to drill it to mount the mirrors - it would be right where the bend is.
I have bike mirrors on mine and they are fine - I now have an aeroscreen on and they didn't even need moving. Rescued attachment 025a.jpg

Looks fantastic. Is that an MK dash?

Hi.

If the car was going to be going on trackdays on a regular basis. It would be wise to take the opportunity to raise the mirrors up to a usable height. Ie at eye level Have a look around at picturers of any of the seven types racing etc. There are many ways of mounting the mirrors on to the cage up at that height with various fabricated brackets such as home made aluminium P clip arrangements with a rubber inner for grip onto the cage.

Cheers Matt

i bought mine from mk, theyre pretty good, although i cant see much out of them, esp. the n/s one...
id probably put them on the cage if doing it again.
