Extension bar with splined ends, cut in half ready for extending. I used CDS tube with 15mm inner/19mm outer diameter. The bar fitted in perfectly .

Bracket to hold the sierra column (not yet fully welded):

The extension in place, along with 2 new universal joints. (Note I havent got a bearing in place yet for the end of the column, see http://nw.rhocar.org/supporting_the_steering_shaft.htm for what I'm going to use)

One of the track rod end extensions, required for the MK2 escort steering rack in a +4 wide chassis:

The rack is mounted so that the uj is pointing higher upwards to give a bit more clearance. I have put an additional cross member in the frame to support this. Just need to brace the back of the brackets:

The engine bracket with a semi-circle cut away from it. I just hope I havent weakened it too much!!

Apart from the sierra steering column from my donor, and the mk2 escort rack (99 pence off ebay!), I got most of the bits from: http://www.rallydesign.co.uk, very good service.

cheers!

Nice, I'm busy with the steering-wheel also. I need to make an extra UJ to pass the exhaust and engine-bracket.

May I ask you: How high is the center off you steering-wheel above the lower chassis rail?

Hi, the centre of my steering wheel is 525mm above the lower chassis rail. However, I have not fitted seats yet so I dont know if this is the best height. It is probably a bit higher than normal, but I have a slightly taller scuttle and my seats will have to be a bit higher than normal to see over the bulging bonnet!
