Covering a dashboard which curves in one direction with genuine alcantara. Do i glue the alcantara to the face of the dashboard or glue the overlap behind it or both?

Also has anyone any experience of a glue which won't let go over time or heat?

We made up some panels for the V-Dub camper and covered with Alcantara. We used a spray adhesive as recommended by Woolies. We covered the full lot rather than just the reverse edge. Granted they are not curvy but it has worked well.

I covered it all over with spray, waited for it to go tacky then stretched the (faux)alcantara over it...and glued the overlap.

Mine was a compound curve, though.

If you've a simple convex dash then it's really up to you...perhaps try just doing the overlap on a sample first? Cut a 1cm strip that would go the full height of the dash and give it a go...

I'd start by just gluing the edges and seeing if I could deform the material

Did a dash with compound curves (some quite tight) I used both spray from Woolies and Evilstink. The evostick was the best as you can put it on both surfaces and get a chance to move around the Alcantara and work out creases/bubbles before the glue dries. If it goes horribly wrong you can also pull the Alcantara off for another go if you're quick. The spray glue lifted on my door panels after a year of so but the Evostick will need a chisel to get it off.
