Mountney Classic Boss
CaptainJosh - 12/1/09 at 05:18 PM

Hi guys

Im after a Mountney Classic Steering Wheel Boss to fit a 1998ish fiesta/ka. ( The steering column of which is in my locost )

Now the column seems to have a tappered hex section on it and I was wondering if anyone had a clue if any other cars had this same setup?

Can't find one any where,
-Josh

Hi Josh.

Can't help where to find the boss you are looking for but

for a Fiesta the number is Mountney KK35X

Be carefully because most have Sierra columns which need a Mountney KK32X

They look the same, but are not interchangeable

Hi,
I did mine on a sierra which was a tapered hole that went from hex to round at the taper, don't know if it will fit the same, but it fits mine and the escort mk2 and a few others like scorpio and granada. Double check the size of the wheel though because mine is a classic mountney wheel and most mountney bosses were too small - astrali boss may be what you need if its an older wheel.

Mk4 escorts (88ish) have a Hex steering column

We had a "mystery" hex Mountney boss that came with a steering wheel but our kits use escort splined mounts so it will be in any one of about 40 boxes, justhad a quiclk look atsome of thelabels on the off chance
if you have had no luck by weekend drop me a line and I'll tryand dig it out and measure it

As my first reply.

Be carefull the Sierra and Fiesta both have hex steering shafts,
They look the same and seem to fit,
but are definatly not the same.

I found out the hard way......
£40 up the spout

It seems the Escort and Fiesta one are both KK35

trextr7monkey: If you could check if you've got one of these I would be happy to take it off your hands for some moneys

My column is collapsible, however as i used an aftermarket wheel for SVA i also had to use collapsible boss too. Worth bearing in mind. This is one reason why people use the column and wheel that the donor vehicle was type approved with.

I planning on using the standard wheel and switching it later.

But as I'm not going to be road worthy (SVA passable) before IVA comes in, I'm planning on track day'ing it for a while until I can be completely aware of the differences between SVA and IVA.

I used to have a Mountney wheel on my racing mini and wouldn't have anything else
