Seat Runners
Daddylonglegs - 30/1/09 at 09:24 AM

I'm not sure whether to go for fixed seats or on runners yet. Any thoughts, ideas etc.?

I have Cobra Roadster 7 seats.

Fixed unless there's a good reason why you need runners, they're really heavy!

fixed seats helps keep out friends who might crash it, especially of your like me and shorter than them

"What you can get in? oh that's too bad"

Runners are heavy? Got mine off a Citreon C4 and they are quite light. Very helpful for ajusting the seat to get at the area behind to store tools, water other sh1t etc.

I got some very low profile allumium runners, that weigh naff all, and only added 23mm to the seat height.

Its a toy for me, and I want my mates to be able to play too - and my wife too for that matter.

So my driver seat is on runners - passenger is fixed.

Ditto but I was TOLD she had to be able to drive it, that and the fact that it had to have 4 seats else I couldnt have one.

My runners came from intatrim and they are Ali and very low profile couldnt tell you the actual measurement but certainly no more than an inch
That was my thinking too (cos I'm such a nice guy )

Mmmm have the roadster7 seats not to be hard against the rear bulkhead then????? I thought they had due to lack os support in a rear end shunt???
Someone confirm or slate this???

RichB - 30/1/09 at 08:50 PM

I'm having both my seats on runners.

My brother-in-law used to have an Elise with fixed passenger seat and found it really annoying that he couldn't stuff a bag behind the seat (and then squash it by moving the seat back).

So I guess it depends what your intended use is. I want to be able to go away on driving hols so am building in a few (southern) comforts but I wouldn't if I was building a track biased car.

Just my two-penneth!

Actually good point, somewhere my girlfriend is going to want to drive it, if only to get the other car out or to pop to Asda. So is it possible to cut them so I've got the seat all the way back to fit me but she can shorten it? My thinking is to fit them a little further forward than normal for this, and it saves leg ache from CBA adjusting the seat after her

gaz_moose - 8/2/09 at 08:43 PM

ford runners are quite low and are not that different to recaro ones.square shape rover 200/400 are like recaro ones to.

omega 24 v6 - 8/2/09 at 09:58 PM

So don't the roadster seven seats need to be against the rear bulkhead then??? Have I been misguided??

Ninehigh - 11/2/09 at 05:28 PM

Probably but then if you're 4 foot 9 the car's going to be short if you're doing that. Surely you can pull it a few inches closer so the missus can have a go

My Roadster 7's are mounted on Renault 5/11/18 seat runners. They are 1" high and they adjust from a bar at the front so you car screw whatever handle to it that you lke.
They must have 9-10" of travel

Seat runners

Are they aluminum? Doensnt mention it.
- They look the the same ones as sold on ebay (search 'universal seat runner' .
- I got a pair of the 'cobra copy' runners from the same seller as they lock both sides. Just need hackin/bending to the right width.

Hello,

my runners are from a Xantia.
only 25 mm high , not too heavu and easy to adjust to width of the seat.
