anyone got a "how to" guide for seat making?
aerosam - 10/3/09 at 07:51 PM

I've been searching the interweb for a how to guide for seatmaking but can't find anything. Anybody got a link?

I'm thinking of proper padded leather/vinyl (a-la uncle Ron) type seats rather than grp or racing type seats.

Cheers guys!

I remember seeing a post (I think it was on here) of a fella who made a nice looking seat by cutting and folding a single sheet of ali. I think he foamed and upholstered it. Got to be a good locost way of doing it, certainly a lot less of a PITA than making up a mold and glassing one.

STOP PRESS!

Found it - http://www.rorty-design.com/files/Rorty%20Basic%20Aluminium%20Se at%20Pattern.pdf

Wouldn't be at all hard to do his with rivets instead of welding, and I wouldn't go to quite the lengths to upholster it as he did, impressive though it is.
