Nice but iv never understood 6 point harnesses. Why do they have two straps for the gentlemens area (may have answered my own question )?

6 points prevent "submarining" which is leaving your seat under 4 points in an accident.
Most race/formula cars have them.

6 points are actually easier to get in and out of than 4 points as they can be tucked over the sides seperately.
On 4 points you have to put your arms through a loop.
The confidence and security afforded by 6 points far outweigh the 30 seconds extra that they take to secure.

Wish I'd built my car to take 5 or 6 point actually. Would definately have got them if I'd known at the time about submarining!

I'd rather have 5/6 point harnesses than the 4 I have got fitted - worth the extra security IMHO.

How are you supposed to protect your nuts in an impact?

I looked into 6 point harnesses when building my last Indy,and came to the conclusion,unless its a race only car and your seat is designed to take a 6 point harness,you have to do them up so tight,it makes them uncomfortable,and the risk of injury out ways then benefits in a road/trackday car.

Been busy today!
Since my £400 tomtom no longer has Fm transmission due to a recent firmware update (using scala Q2 headsets), I have just bought a Navigo for £60 off ebuyer and put it on the car to the right of the steering wheel.
It knows the way to Newark so hopefully I will be coming up if the weather looks good!

Or just make sure you fit your harness properly every time.

I want to go for a 6 point harness because when I do up my 4 point, the buckle ends up over my stomach when I tighten the shoulder straps properly. 6 point should mean everything stays in the right place and I like to be strapped down nice and tight anyway (just ask the missus )

Can't see what the fuss is all about. It's not like theres any blood to deal with. Just pop em back in the sack and use a stapler or some string to stop them dropping out again.

Luckily that can be avoided by doing everything up properly. Looking at those pictures almost made me want to get rid of my six points

It should be pointed out that a 6 point will not incur injuries of the balls. Having had many drivers have 100mph + accidents over the years not one has had an injury of that nature. You do have to fit the 6 point correctly though particularly the crutch strap whith attention to how it is located before going through the seat area.

The trouble with a 4 point is that no matter how you do the lap strap as you tighten the shoulder straps you are pulling the lap strap up from it's desired position. This allows the submarine effect to possibly take place. And it can also be the reason you can suffer internal injuries due to the lap belt being too high.

Each to there own but make sure that witch ever belts you are wearing they are properly adjusted and tight. Loose shoulder belts are also cause of some serious injuries to the neck.

Also 3" webbing helps spread the loads. 4 points tend to be 2"
