Wat Seats Fit??
Crazy Jay - 8/3/04 at 11:52 AM

Hey ppl, i've heard that very few racing seats actually fit comfortably in a book built locost. Is this true? And can u tell me any seats that do fit? Cheers fellaz

greggors84 - 8/3/04 at 12:28 PM

Pretty sure Cobra Roadster 7s fit, if you look on the cobra website they have all the dimensions.

I can also confirm, Roadster 7's fit perfectly even though I have widened the chassis at the diff end of tranny tunnel.

Markp - 8/3/04 at 04:42 PM

I got some intatrim odysee seats (not sure of the spelling) very nice and alot more comfy than I first thought,

Thanx a lot fellaz, much appreciated

Complete with Carbonfibre headrest!

MARVELLOUS!

Crazy Jay - 18/3/04 at 02:24 PM

Is it just me or do those mk seats look uncomfortable as hell? Im a thin fella, if i hit a bump while sittin in tht seat it'd rip my spin off! Pity tho cause they look pretty cool

Crazy Jay - 18/3/04 at 02:27 PM

Hellfire, ur rollbar is great. Is it a standard mk part? how much did it cost? Cheers

MK9R - 18/3/04 at 02:36 PM

It looks the same as mine (except a little more spangly!!) which is the standard MK one.

How have you fitted your roll bar, i can't see any bolt heads?

Hellfire - 19/3/04 at 12:42 PM

First of all, the MK seats are extremely comfortable. All the MK Indys I've been in have had these seats fitted. Having said that, I don't know how comfortable they would be over long distances.

Secondly, the roll-bar is standard MK. We got it chromed, along with the front wish bones and headlight bar for £90

Austen, there are bolts there its just that you can't see em cos of the glare

dozracing - 22/3/04 at 07:37 PM

You might like to check out the three different seats on www.gtstuning.co.uk which are pretty much the widest seats that fit in a book chassis.

GO - 22/3/04 at 09:41 PM

Darren, are you going to be taking your seats to Detling?

Crazy Jay - 22/3/04 at 09:45 PM

Darren, could u not get a supply of cobra roadster 7's, buy loads for cheap and sell them to us for cheap?

CairB - 22/3/04 at 10:06 PM

My Indy used the earlier MK GRP seats. I found that they make good use of the available space and seemed ok at first. After a few complaints from my passengers on longer trips I set about covering them with vinyl over a thin layer of foam. This has made them a lot more comfortable from both mechanical and thermal aspects, well worth the difference IMHO.

I found the cobras a bit small for my physique.

Cheers,

Colin

Hi, I've done the same thing (or similar) with my early type MK seats.Photos in archive...Dont know what they are like on road yet though.

Martin Sports Car - 6/4/04 at 11:34 PM

Hi there,

I made my own Seats and Start to Sell them and Darren it's my representative in UK.

What I check in my Seats comparing with the ones with Caterham it's that mine are much more resistant and don't flet and the Caterham ones

I plan to make some mpre improvements in the future then I will give some news.
