daft question but....
piran - 3/7/09 at 09:28 PM

I drove kermit down from Birmingham yesterday and managed to get sunburnt so what do people wear as head coverings on sunny days ?

(I know not strictly interior and seating but wasn't sure where would be more relevant)

the three letter word being hat i suppose, I wear one all the time but still get my face burnt so i use a cap and factor 30 and still get burnt, worst thing is I am pretty brown anyway so not sure why I burn. I think it has a lot to do with the wind

and to narrow the list of possible things beginning with H how about adding the requirement that it stays on the head and I don't have to stop every 20 feet to go back and get it ?

the most expensive part of running a seven is the cost of the caps that leave your head whilst accelerating. I have started wearing a lanyard around my neck and attached the cap to it. had the same cap for 8 weeks now RESULT

I wear a baseball cap. I also have a string attaching it to the roll bar so it can't escape!

Factor 50 sun cream is what you need - goes on like plaster and isn't a particularly nice feeling at first, but it's what you need. I tend to go with a helmet too - but you still need sun cream as you'll still get burned through the visor.

I suppose you could always use some of the zinc cream that cricketers use as well if you're on a long blat in current weather well away from home where no-one you know will see you!

Cut your hair to grade 1 or even better shave it with no blade, hats stick to your head like velcro

I was kind of assuming that anything with a brim would blow off but yes I did consider tying one to the roll cage

Mr Velcro

Easy one. Baseball cap for the scalp and F30 for the ears and face. To prevent acceleration related hat losses tie a thin piece of fishing line to the roll-bar and tie the other end to the strap on the back of the cap. Then if it does come off you won't lose it. Just stop at the next convenient place and put it back on again

eccsmk - 3/7/09 at 10:26 PM

just remember to remove you hat before getting out
or at least un tie it from the rollbar

adithorp - 4/7/09 at 07:31 AM

My cap is attached with a lanyard, like you get to put a pass/accreditation around your neck. Then I've a velcro strip on one end to feed through the caps strap.
It hasn't come off yet but it's been close...and yes, don't forget to take your cap off before exiting or it'll pull you back in.

Cap and Lanyard = Locost HAMS device?

serieslandy - 4/7/09 at 04:22 PM

Musto do a cap with a lanyard attatched. This one used too but I can't see if it still does from the photo.

They were great for sailing as if they came off the caps sank so you can't just go and pick it up.

Maybe try some of this

Tried the baseball cap and lanyard - ended up with a kite but got hold of a buff and that stays on pretty well although doesn't shade the eyes from the sun (but you can't have everything - or so I'm told)

David Jenkins - 15/9/09 at 11:08 AM

Of course you can't have everything - where would you put it?
