I'm wondering how other people have mounted the cobra seven seats in there mk's mat clements look like they are raised are they on runners or spacers at the moment they sit too low in my car to line up? thinking it may pay to get runners?

I was advised to bolt them straight to the floor (cross bars) untill you have done the SVA bit, as with runners on it raises the seat so it is touch and go on seat belt compliance.

I bolted mine directly onto the floor - onto the flat metal cross pieces. There shouldn't be too many folks apart from me driving the car anyhow, and it's a comfortable set-up. I'm 5'11" so I'm fairly average in height.
I was told that if I was going for runners to pay attention that they didn't raise the seat to high off the floor. Apparently it can make you feel like you could fall out of the car!

The problem of seat belt mountings is not a problem if the seat has harness holes and you use 4 point fixings as these are the points that the seat belt mountings are measured from. This was a thread run just over a year ago I think.

I am having trouble mounting my passenger seat without runners. The bolts arnt very long and there is quite alot of material to squash down before the bolt can be screwed in. This makes it really hard to try and fit especially when the holes arnt lined up very well. Think i will get slighly longer bolts and thick washers to make it easier.

My drivers seat is on runners and feels a bit high but the cobra sevens are have nice side bolsters so keep you nice and snug in the seat!

I used longer bolts and big washers into the captive bolts on the seats. This allowed me to use a ratchet to tighten them up instead of an allen key and use a longer bolt, as you say, - seems a good job. I've also used two of the bolts on the passenger side to hold a bracket for the exhaust. Seems to be holding up OK.

I mounted mine on a set of runners I bought at Stafford. cant remember the supplier, but they were in the smaller hall on left as you went in, selling seats / wheels etc ?
These were about 30 quid the pair and only raise the seat about 25 mm from the floor, (even on a rubber strip as I wanted to keep any moisture that may (will in Scotland) gather and cause rust on runners).
As stated above, raising the seats does not effect SVA, its the mounting height relative to the seat pad that it is measured from. if you have belt holes in the seat as I do, the Cobra 7 seat just makes the height rules if your belts pass through the upper most part of the holes then on to the mounts above this. I asked Cobra about this and they confirmed this is the case and offered assistance with SVA man if he failed it. They did say that they have had one or two issues here but also confirmed that they sell hundereds of these seats and with only a few exceptions have had no issues
