My battery is in the passenger footwell but at the moment i have no foot rest or cover for it. Is this likely to cause a problem for IVA?
I would say yes is wohld raise concern.
Not so much concern if it was under the bonnet where it was not going to get messed with / touched.
At the very least it should have insulated terminal covers.
In my eyes, roll it, what's to stop the passenger and you getting plastered in battery acid?

The battery strap
that stops it moving, doesnt stop it leaking!
My inclination would be to site it in the footwell only as a last resort. As said ^^ battery acid is wicked stuff.
Are you sure there's no room in the engine compartment?
Mine squeezes in between the side chassis rails via a removable side panel and sits on the bottom chassis rail helping lower the centre of
gravity.
Alt. mount it in the boot - helps with weight distribution even if the cabling does cost.
HTH.

Im a about to inspect in the region of 4000 batterys in the next three months......and take it from me 1
batts do not work on thier side and two no matter what the manufacturer tells you all batts have the potenial to leak no matter how much they
cost.
3 the contents of this magic box has some of the most aggresive chemicals that love to eat and burn what ever they come into contact with.
At least get a marine battery box to contain it.
And mod the footwell to isolate you from the block.
Heeds these words and stay safe........
Thanks for all the replys.
Would a sandwich box be suitable locost option to cover the battery?
Does this help? Battery is secured with the remains of a deep fat frier and covered with a piece of ali secured with velcro.

Will look brilliant too!
My battery is in the footwell.
I made an ali panel that I riveted between the tunnel cover and inner cover and the battery bracket.
SVA was cool with this and gives the passenger a footrest.

put it in the boot. you know it makes sense
I would equally have concerns about being painted in sulphuric acid.
Still amused me when my latest bike battery came with a little bottle of the stuff in the standard royal mail post! How is that allowable?
