bodger - 3/2/10 at 09:13 PM

Spotted this smart looking Dash today on MK's site. Does anyone know who's it is, where it came from ? Is that a standard set of bike clocks ?

Dunno... but WTF is going on in your avatar?

Hayabusa clocks I believe!

Certain that they are a standard set of bike clocks, seem them before just not sure which bike they're from.

Yes that is definately a Hayabusa set of clocks and my dashboard has the same set of clocks.
See my photo archive to show the original dash and the new Hayabusa one. I think I know which one I prefer and it has all the functions working. ie FI light plus Oil Pressure, Fuel Gauge,Temp Gauge, Indicators, Main Beam, Neutral, Fuel Consumption, Clock, Trip and all in one nice shape.

I think that car belongs to "OX" on this forum, might be worth sending him a U2U and ask him.

Did you have any issues wiring it up or calibrating the speedo ?

May be speaking out of turn as I've not done a bec yet, but if you use the complete loom, just extend for lights etc as required (maybe use a relay for h/lights), the only prob would be the speedo and I do believe the "speedo healer" fixes that by delaying/speeding up speedo input pulses.

Stand to be corrected, of course

It would take much much more length to "delay" the pulses. As long as there is no resistance in the wires, the speedo will read perfectly fine when the loom is extended.

The speedohealer is a plug in box that allows user input of the final gearing (output sprocket to tires) so that the speedometer reads correctly. This can be used for us when we use a shorter or taller tire, or change the final gearing from the stock.

So am I right in thinking this dash could be used on a CEC.

If so how much effort to wire in and set up?

why would you unless your car rev's up to 11-12000 RPM?

My main issues were converting the Hayabusa harness back to the standard clocks as Westfield ( who built the car) had cut several wires out of the harness and were missing. they had also connected the Air Box tmeperature sender to the engine and visa versa. so my engine was always running rich as it thought that the engine was only running at 20degrees and the airbox was at 80. Good job i found that when i sorted the harness out.

As for the speedo calibration, I can thoroughly recommend the Speedo Healer made by Heal Tec. it is so simple to install and very small in size. you can recalculate your gearing scientifically or just adjust the speed using a GPS. It is totally adjustable Up or Down in speed. My one is very accurate according to other speed comparisons.

I think you misunderstand me.

Speedo decides how fast you are going by counting input pulses (from for eg a magnet or magnets on driveshafts or abs rings whatever (I have one magnet on my pushbike and four on toy car). To give an adjusted reading those pulses will be speeded up/slowed down by the speedo healer to fool speedo.

I was talking about extending the loom so bike wiring would reach the lights. Nothing too technical

I have a 4 AGE that will be reving to 8500 so I'll paint the red line further down the scale

Get more cylinders/cc and you won't need to thrash it
