Im putting one in mine. Iv got twin hoop roll bars with back stays. Mine will be an mdf/ply top with a metal box hanging underneath and mdf/ply hinged lid.

My lid will be smaller than the box underneath so it opens bewteen my backstays.

I want to put one on mine. Problem is, the plonker who built it, made it 2'1" deep and the closest i can find it 2'x4' [doh!]

For the time being ive got a hugely modified MNR GRP boot box along with a abs plastic cover. Mine wasnt too bad as the back roll bar tubes are almost at the widest part of the car. The box just didnt fit so loads of cutting and re fibreglassing of the boot box was required. THis has ended up really strong as it will need to be for tools etc. The top panel is quite flexible so the edges can be lifted up and down to fit neatly around the panels and roll bar. There should be a few pics in my blog although it spreads over a few months as i really took my time with it.

X2. I didn't take my time with my soft cover, but I just wanted to use up old vinyl, and learn from it. I also like the idea of a hard one underneath (that sounds really bad), in order to mount a convenient fuel cap.

once i had the book petrol tank made and fitted inside the rear bars i measured the height and width i had and searched around for a under bed storage box ( wollies at the time ) and then made a support for it to sit on so the top of the plastic box lined up with top of the rear panel so the wooden piece i cut to sit on the top of the panel formed the lid of the boot box. when the hole was cut if was as said earlier smaller than the box within.

Ta Chaps,

I plan to panel the inside of the boot to make it a watertight and semi secure stowing area, camping gear & overnight bag etc..., hence the locking hard top.

The soft top cover is both for rain cover and aesthetics, will be making a full front tonneau after IVA, its also means you can stow a jumper/coat between the hard and soft covers for easy access.

Cheers, very pleased with it, better than the factory one (which didn't fit!)

Local then? Chorleywood......

Our boot box was a bit of a challenge. Here's how we made it
