Hi guys,
i have a skinny GRP seat for the striker, it doesn't have any mounting points on it at all, so i was just wondering how you are actually
supposed to mount them?
I'm sure the seat itself doesn't matter too much as the harnnesses will keep me in but gotta keep mr IVA happy!
cheers,
andy
you can either bolt it through the floorpan customised to your physique or fit some seat runners to make it adjustable.A lot of runners will increase the seat height by about 30mm
When you say it has no mounting points at all do you mean it doesn't even have the captive nuts in the base? Could be that they've been glassed over and need finding and opening up?
Some of the GRP seats have a flat section added to the base with captive nuts in. In that case bolt it through the floor.
Others are just a seat shell and you can either bolt it direct to the floor through the seat base or with custom brackets that mount on the side. Use
shallow button head screws obviously. If you search for GRP seats on e-bay a lot of the ads also show the side mount brackets.

Hi Andy,
There's a pic of GRP seat mountings on a Striker here:

You can also buy kart seat washers on ebay which you can then use with a countersunk bolt to stop any bolt heads from digging into you.

If they are the ones without any captive nuts like the JK ones in the pic above which I also have, then I fixed them by putting bitton head bolts as
follows:
- 2 through the lip at the front of the seat
- 1 through the base of the seat at the lowets point
plus brackets to the rear panel as visible in the pic above.
It means they are not adjustable, so I guess it depends if anyone of a different size would ever drive your car
the alloy brackets to the rear panel that JK supply are a waste of time if your going to be chucking it around a track.
mine didn't even last half a day at croft before they split where they have been bent to shape.
remade them from steel and they lasted much longer.
there are no captive nuts...
will bolting through the floorpan be ok for the IVA?
I think that all of the new JKs have captive nuts - mine do and I got them about a year ago.
