Kart Seats...
scootz - 30/8/10 at 06:35 PM

... anyone used them in their Se7en?

If so, how did you get on?

iank - 30/8/10 at 06:45 PM

You'll need head supports for IVA if that matters.

Tillet make decent ones.

Thanks Ian... it's for a registered car (has a padded diagonal brace on the roll bar which can double as a helmet-stop!).

D Beddows - 30/8/10 at 07:31 PM

yup - used one for years in our 750mc Locost - great if you're thin enough BUT xxlarge in kart seat sizes is about 11 stone in real terms....

From experience of karting. They dont like being stood on lots of times.

Also you will have to slot the sides because the harness route around the outside of the bucket will not be too good.

Tillet make gorgous car seats that are very suitable for a se7en. Not cheap though.

Best of luck

Ta... would love a Tillet, but funds won't allow right now!

Triton - 31/8/10 at 12:25 PM

Then buy a Triton seat......

scootz - 31/8/10 at 02:21 PM

Had a look... like the low-back ones, but still too pricey for me at £200+ for a pair!

iank - 31/8/10 at 02:39 PM

If you want both cheap and comfortable and can compromise on looks then go for foam and bin-bag seats used by racers.
The are the alternative of choice for the caterham boys upgrading (those that don't go for full carbon Tillet seats).

Blimey if you think the Triton seats are expensive its ebay or autojumbles for you!

scootz - 3/9/10 at 07:55 AM

... and so it proved to be!

Went to eBay and got a nice pair of double-skinned GRP jobbies for £125 delivered... perfect fit and uber-comfy!

scoop - 3/9/10 at 08:14 AM

Lmao
Who was the seller then, do they produce others? Looking for a pair of low back racing seats myself.

Triton - 5/9/10 at 12:01 PM

Triton seats have always been seriously good value for money with quality to match seats twice the price....

Of that I have no doubt Triton, but I'm afraid I'm working to a tight budget on this one, so every penny saved...

Triton - 5/9/10 at 12:34 PM

Three wheelie beast?

Triton - 5/9/10 at 12:35 PM

240bhp 800cc motogp motor would be a hoot

To save everyone time, please read the above as ...

I am selling my 3 wheel beast project at a massive loss... ;(

Don't do it!

Back in topic I tired kart seats, but the only ine that would fit my bum in, wouldn't fit where it came to the legs bit, too wide.

scootz - 5/9/10 at 08:11 PM

Not planning on actively selling it as it's one I'd like to finish one day!

Buuuut... if someone wants to make an offer...
